AFTERCARE INSTRUCTION FORM
STANDARD TATTOO HEALING
- . After 3-5 hours, remove bandage and gently wash your new tattoo with warm water and Dial soap. Use the palm of your hand to wash the area. Pat dry with a clean towel and allow tattoo to air dry. Do not rebandage your tattoo
- . Apply a thin layer of A+D 2-3 times a day for one day. Then switch to Lubriderm and apply 2-3 times a day as needed.
- . Stay out of direct sunlight/tanning booths for at least three weeks and avoid physical activity as much as possible. Avoid soaking in a tub, sauna, jacuzzi, swimming pool, ocean, gardening and contact with animals until your tattoo is completely healed.
- . You may experience some tenderness and minor swelling after the tattoo procedure. This will subside within days of receiveing your tattoo. If you show signs or symptoms of infection such as major swelling and redness, extreme tenderness, red streaks moving from the tattoo towards your heart, elevated temperature/fever or purulent drainage from the tattoo seek medical attention immediately.
- . Your tattoo should be healed after 2-4 weeks. Should you have any problems, please call or email the shop and we will assist you. Sun exposure will fade your tattoo over time. Always use a sunscreen of at least SPF 25.
TEGADERM/ SECOND SKIN BANDAGES
(Tegaderm is a sterile, breathable, waterproof, germ-proof barrier to protect your new tattoo.
Tegaderm will protect your tattoo from contamination and will also protect your clothes and sheets from excess ink, blood and fluid that are the normal by-products of healing a tattoo.)
- . The Bandage will fill /bubble up with muddy colored liquid which is perfectly normal and just means it's working. Leave bandage on for 3-5 days if possible then remove bandage in shower under warm water and wash gently with anitbacterial hand soap.
- . Your tattoo will be nearly healed and you can apply a thin layer of A+D for the first few days as needed.
- . If your bandage leaks/is punctured or if there is any redness/swelling around the bandage: remove bandage, wash thoroughly and continue the steps from the STANDARD TATTOO HEALING instructions.
If you notice any signs and symptoms of infection, including, but not limited to, redness, swelling, tenderness, red streaks going from the procedure site toward the heart, elevated temperature, purulent drainage from the procedure site, or any other signs and symptoms that indicate the
need to seek medical care, CONTACT YOUR PHYSICIAN AND TATTOOER IMMEDIATELY!!
